Actualmente, se estima que en Andalucía residen más de 100.000 personas con epilepsia, de las cuales alrededor de 10.000 corresponden a la provincia de Almería. A pesar de ser uno de los trastornos neurológicos más frecuentes, la epilepsia sigue estando rodeada de mitos, prejuicios y desconocimiento, lo que genera barreras en la educación, el empleo y las relaciones sociales.

Durante el acto, el presidente de la SAdE y neurólogo del Hospital Universitario Torrecárdenas, Pablo Quiroga, ha anunciado el lanzamiento de la segunda edición del concurso “Rompiendo Estigmas, Unidos contra la Epilepsia”, una iniciativa abierta a pacientes, familiares, profesionales sanitarios y a toda la ciudadanía.
El objetivo del concurso es promover mensajes positivos, testimonios transformadores y expresiones artísticas (como relatos, fotografías, dibujos o vídeos) que contribuyan a una imagen más justa, inclusiva y humana de quienes viven con epilepsia.
