La nueva iniciativa turística impulsada por la Diputación y Jet2 tiene como meta consolidar e incrementar el número de visitantes. Fernando Giménez destacó la relevancia de esta acción promocional anual, subrayando que “contribuye significativamente a que los turistas británicos sigan siendo el principal grupo extranjero que llega a nuestro destino mediante el aeropuerto”. Es fundamental potenciar este vínculo que ha dado excelentes resultados en años anteriores.
Giménez también recordó que casi 200.000 viajeros británicos llegaron a Almería en 2024, lo cual representa cerca del 20% del total de pasajeros que utilizaron el Aeropuerto del Alquián. Actualmente existen ocho conexiones aéreas directas con el Reino Unido, y se trabajará para recuperar las cifras alcanzadas en 2018 y 2019.
