Los hechos, descritos con gran detalle en la resolución judicial, ocurrieron cuando el agresor siguió a sus exsuegros hasta el aparcamiento de su domicilio. Una vez dentro del garaje, aceleró bruscamente y arrolló por sorpresa al hombre, dejándolo acorralado contra una columna. Tras los atropellos iniciales, el agresor intentó embestir de nuevo a las víctimas, que yacían en el suelo, pero un vecino valiente se interpuso en la trayectoria de su vehículo, logrando detenerlo. El acusado huyó del lugar poco después, siendo detenido días más tarde.

La Sala ha determinado que el condenado actuó con "dolo directo de matar", utilizando un vehículo de gran potencia como arma y aprovechando la sorpresa para impedir cualquier defensa por parte de las víctimas. El tribunal ha rechazado las alegaciones de la defensa, que argumentaban una antigua lesión en el tobillo y el consumo de sustancias tóxicas como factores limitantes. La sentencia subraya la "plena conciencia" con la que el agresor ejecutó los atropellos, descartando cualquier alteración psíquica o intoxicación relevante.
Asimismo, el acusado ha sido absuelto de dos delitos de amenazas, ya que las expresiones proferidas se consideraron parte de un "único acto violento" y, por tanto, quedan absorbidas por los delitos contra la vida.
