Al igual que en la primera fase, ha explicado el delegado territorial, “estos centros educativos han sido seleccionados sobre la base de criterios técnicos y objetivos, priorizándose aquellos municipios situados en zonas geográficas con severidad climática de verano extrema y habiéndose confirmado in situ la viabilidad técnica de realizar las actuaciones. Los proyectos de estas obras incluirán una valoración energética de los centros y un estudio energético previo y posterior de la actuación tras la ejecución”.
También Francisco Alonso ha recordado que la Consejería de Desarrollo Educativo y Formación Profesional ya ha ejecutado un total de “36 obras de bioclimatización mediante refrigeración adiabática en centros docentes públicos de la provincia de Almería, con una inversión total de más de 7,5 millones de euros” y ha destacado que el colegio público Virgen de Loreto de la capital ya se están beneficiando de esta actuación “que ha supuesto una inversión total de 196.864,38 euros y que está resolviendo el problema del calor en las aulas representando también una apuesta de la Junta por la implantación de un sistema sostenible de bioclimatización acompañado de energías renovables para reducir el gasto en consumo eléctrico lo que implica, en palabras del delegado territorial, un importante avance en la actualización y modernización de la red de centros educativos públicos de la provincia , así como en su eficiencia energética y sostenibilidad.”.

La refrigeración adiabática es un sistema ecológico de climatización, alternativo al aire acondicionado convencional, que consigue bajar la temperatura interior de las aulas mediante la evaporación de agua. Sus principales ventajas son el bajo consumo eléctrico (hasta un 80% inferior al del aire acondicionado) y las menores emisiones de CO2. Asimismo, funciona con las ventanas abiertas y utiliza siempre aire fresco, sin recirculación, mejorando la calidad del aire interior. Otras de sus características son que no emplea líquidos refrigerantes, no reseca el ambiente y evita cambios bruscos de temperatura.

En cuanto a las placas solares fotovoltaicas, con una potencia por instalación de 15 kilovatios, además de suponer menor gasto eléctrico para los centros reducen las emisiones individuales y globales de CO2 a la atmósfera. En concreto, las placas solares instaladas en el marco del programa de Bioclimatización y Energías Renovables en la provincia de Almería suponen una producción global fotovoltaica de 922.647 kWh/año y evitarán la emisión a la atmósfera de más de 480 toneladas de gases de efecto invernadero cada año.
